Looks like the February calendar will probably make a late grand entrance. But it probably won’t be as late as the Jan calendar was. Either way, it’ll be posted

Ok, so remember how I mentioned making a calendar? Yeah, it’s a little late. I haven’t scanned it yet but yesterday I JUST finished inking it. I’m still hesitant on scanning it, but what the heck. I’ll get to scanning it today, figure out what cheesy calendar template I want to use and then figure out where to upload it

Happy 2009! It’s been a creative 2008 for the SoD. I’ve tweeted about making a calendar for the new year. Procrastination got the best of me.
The good news, though, is that I’m just about finishing January’s calendar. While posting it already defeats the purpose of even making a January calendar, I figure if I post it early enough, it’s better than nothing!
Some of you probably noticed that, as scheduled (or tradition?) NorthSide.net is down. Not sure when it’ll come back up, but any future SoD will definitely be posted on Wrath of Bom.
Welp. I know for sure there won’t be a holiday comic. Not too many reasons to list why, but the main reasons are 1. time and 2. ideas. I can’t remember if I even made one for last year. BUT I’m going to try to get a January calendar put together and this time we’ll try to make it to March and the rest of the year.
Some time ago I was entertaining the idea of making a myspace page for SoD. Welp, that got scrapped. But now I’m toying with the idea of giving them their own Facebook page. North Side has its own Facebook but it’s hardly active. Perhaps the Squires can squat over there for a while…
I’ve been so jealous of all the lovely Moleskine sketches out there. I’d like to think mine have been well-loved as they have. If you remember my last update on Wrath of Bom I had an unfinished SoD drawing where Squires Whyte and Thorn were in YZ outfits. I got around to finishing Squire Thorn. I’ll have it re-scanned sometime soon. In the meantime, please go here and spread the word.

I’ve mulled over this many a time – Squire Thorn’s backstory.
While we all know who he’s loosely based on, I’m really wanting to tear him bit by bit away from “being” that person and into his very own character. He’ll still have the same likeness that he’s known for but he’ll never wield a guitar (anymore), or say “brah”, or mention being in a band (unless he decides to join an orchestral band to play the triangle).
I’ve always entertained the idea that Thorn is a boarding school student who believes the institution is too confining, the headmaster is truly evil, and that school, in general is a waste of time. Stupidly enough, he runs away, and, after finding his way back to town, he runs into the other Squires.
Yeah, it’s a little rough at the moment. Obviously not detailed. But I think I’m just too hesitant to say anymore right now. But who knows!
I’m entertaining the idea of having a SoD Twitter marathon. Marathon as in an hour. I dunno. It’s in the air. What would these guys be doing during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend? I can’t imagine them spending it together everyday. They’d kill each other!
But as Squire Whyte suggests, maybe they’ll spend a chaotic shopping day together much to Squire Thorn’s misery.
Did you know Squire Thorn (North) is a croquet prodigy? It’s a skill that Squire D would be most impressed with.
Squire Whyte is the lovable goof who seems to rival Squire Thorn when it comes to being the popular Squire. He’s known for his expression of idiotic bliss or the blank stare he often gives to the viewers in moments of confusion.
But what else is there to Squire Whyte? We know he’s got a soft spot for ice cream, clean socks, karaoke and musicals. But what else does he do besides be the butt of all the others’ jokes? While he’s a bit older than Thorn, he’s rather childish. He’s quite the nostalgia freak and loves to daydream. But he’s also very caring toward his fellow Squires. He might have a little brain, but he’s got a big heart. Even when he has thoughts of sabotaging someone else, he’s easily thwarted.
